Salmon in Bear Creek – Oregon really is Wild

Nature is truly AMAZING - Did y’all know we have wild Salmon in Bear Creek?!?

Yes, you read that right, our very own Bear Creek!

I got this epic shot while volunteering with @KSWild on their Salmon walks around the Rogue Valley in the fall of 2021. It was awesome and so exciting to know that we have salmon running in our creeks here in Southern Oregon. I love joining these walks because you get to learn so much about the environment around you and get to feel more connected to the current issues that environment is facing. I also had the pleasure of connecting with other people in my area that are also passionate about the importance of clean watersheds and protecting our home.

For example, a big issue salmons face (besides everything trying to eat them) are river damns and water pollution. These are big concepts that I’ve been aware of for a while, but never really sank in. Being IN the field taking it all in helped to change that for me. So I highly encourage you to make time to get to know and connect with the area that you live in. Who knows, you might even make a new friend!

Here’s another one of my pictures that has been chosen for their free email newsletter (which is a great way to keep up to date on our region!). I’d also like to give a huge shout out to @KSWild for choosing my work to help support their mission to protect and restore wild nature in the Klamath-Siskiyou region. I am honored and deeply inspired to continue documenting conservation efforts around my backyard.
